We are specialised in restoring damaged wooden surfaces with a simple but very effective technique. For a reasonable price we fix water stains, scratches, blisters, loose wood veneer, damaged parquet flooring and all kinds of kitchen worktops.

We particularly have several years of experience in working on luxury yachts. We are also happy to do wall makeovers such as marbling, murals and trompe l'oeil (trick the eye).

French-Polishing

French-polishing is a wood finishing technique (and not a substance, as commonly assumed) for wooden furniture that results in a very high gloss, deep colour and tough surface. It consists of applying many thin coats of shellac using a rubbing pad. The rubbing pad is made up of wadding inside a square piece of cotton.

The process is lengthy and very repetitive. The finish is obtained through a specific combination of different rubbing motions, waiting for considerable time, building up layers of polish and then spiriting off any streaks left in the surface

Faux Marbling

Faux marbling is the painting of painting surfaces so as to imitate the appearance of polished marble. It is typically used in buildings where the cost or weight of genuine marble would be prohibitive(like on boats).

Faux marbling is a special case of faux stone painting, although the distinctive and varied patterns of marble make it the most imitated stone by far.

Murals & Trompe l'oeil

Trompe-l'œil, French for "trick the eye" from tromper - to deceive and l'œil - the eye; is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects really exist.

Although the phrase has its origin in the Baroque period, use of trompe-l'œil dates back much further. It was (and is) often employed in murals, and instances from Greek and Roman times are known, for instance from Pompeii. A typical trompe-l'œil mural might depict a window, door or hallway to optically enlarge a room.
